Repair a server that no longer answers
Console, rescue mode and snapshots: get your server back step by step.
All guides
- 1
Look at the screen
In Access → Troubleshooting, open the console: you see the server's screen, even without network. An error message at startup often tells you what's wrong.
- 2
Restart
If the server is frozen, use Restart (or Reset in Settings if it doesn't respond at all).
- 3
Start in rescue mode
Rescue mode starts a temporary Linux system with your disk available. Connect with SSH using the rescue password, then mount your disk to fix a file or recover data.
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt - 4
Leave rescue mode
Click Leave rescue mode: the server restarts on its normal system.
- 5
Restore a copy
As a last resort, restore a snapshot or an automatic backup from the Backups tab.
